tramp (2.0.45); Cannot open local files with /su: method

Another useful thing to do is to put (setq tramp-debug-buffer t) in
the ~/.emacs file and to repeat the bug.  Then, include the contents
of the *tramp/foo* buffer and the *debug tramp/foo* buffer in your bug

I use tramp-2.0.45 (the one bundled with CVS Emacs). I can open files
on remote machines with the ssh method.

But when I make C-x C-f /su::/some/file I am prompted for a
password. I type my root password, but when I press return Emacs hangs
and does nothing. The minibuffer still displays "password:
..........#" where # is the prompt.

The only thing I can do is C-g.
