That's right. You're the first to need it, I think. Do you need it?
I was wondering to replace some of the things that are done by
tramp-open-connection-setup-interactive-shell and
tramp-post-connection by configurable action lists. Then you could
inject your own shell code into it.
Some moons ago, I changed Tramp to have configurable actions for the
time before the first shell prompt comes. But then I lost my energy
and didn't finishe the job to have actions for the time after the
first shell prompt...
