Could you send a complete *debug tramp/foo* buffer for a case where
it fails, and one for a case where it succeeds? Start with a fresh
Emacs, then type C-x C-f with the right filename. For the failure
case, the *tramp/foo* buffer would also be useful.
While it is important to have a complete debug buffer, it should be
as short as possible. So it would be nice if you could type in the
complete filename without using filename completion.
Oh, wait. Of course the problem happens when you write, so after
(successfully, I suppose) finding the file change it and then save.
I can't look at it in more detail right now, I'm too hungry :-) I'll
try to meditate over your backtrace after lunch.
