Enter your bug report in this message, including as much detail as you

If you can give a simple set of instructions to make this bug happen

TRAMP.

Another useful thing to do is to put (setq tramp-debug-buffer t) in
the ~/.emacs file and to repeat the bug.  Then, include the contents
of the *tramp/foo* buffer and the *debug tramp/foo* buffer in your bug
report.

Hi,

I am editing a remote file with the ftp method. This file has the
following cookie information at the top:

# -*- coding:utf-8 mode:cperl -*-

When I open this file, I get it nicely as UTF-8, and I see the "u"
documenting this on the mode line. I now edit the file and save it,
and as soon as it has been saved, the "u" on the modeline disappears,
and when I edit and save it again, I get the following warning:

Selected encoding iso-latin-1 disagrees with utf-8 specified by file contents.  
Really save (else edit coding cookies and try again)? (y or n) 

It seems tramp should remember the coding information.
