/host:foo is the Tramp syntax for Emacs. With XEmacs, that syntax
activates EFS. XEmacs expects /[host]foo as Tramp syntax (given you
have a proper default method).
If you generate the Tramp Info pages for XEmacs, it will be explained
there. See file INSTALL for details.
