What is the value of the variable `system-type' on your system?
(I'll use that to set the default value.)
On my Win2K box, it is 'windows-nt'. I may be able to try from Win98.
Does it work to just set the tramp-sh-program variable to "cmd.exe",
or does it have to be the absolute path that you used?
cmd.exe is just fine
And should itbe "cmd.exe" or "CMD.EXE"?
dir says 'CMD.EXE', but 'cmd.exe' works. Windows is case-insensitive.
Win98 may actually use command.com. I'll have to check on that one.
If the absolute path is needed, is there
a way for Tramp to find out which path to use?
I'm assuming that 'cmd.exe' worked by itself because it's in my PATH.
If Xemacs always uses your system PATH, I think it would be safe to
assume that cmd.exe would be in there. If not, the user should add the
system32 directory to their path.
