Follow-up Comment #1, sr #110429 (project administration): Thank you for reviewing and commenting upon the documentation. Please always feel free to suggest improvements. A couple of points that might need to be emphasized in that document. One is that it wasn't the protocol difference between git and http for that but the path that was used. http://git.savannah.gnu.org/r/ where the "/r/" part of the path is a URL to the raw repository. That's the "dumb" git protocol. Using "/git/" there is the smart protocol talking to the git-http-daemon backend. I have made some updates to the documentation to try to make this more clear. And also make it more clear why one protocol should be used over another protocol. Take a look.
