Yay!  I am glad to hear that it is all working well in this configuration. 
Sometimes it takes a couple of iterations on the problem in order for the best
solution to emerge.  And also I did not think of this either when
contemplating the firewalls and allowed connectivity into elpa.gnu.org
either.
