Yay! Sounds good. Therefore I will close this ticket.
To me this has all of the indications of a corrupted TCP data stream. Which
should never be possible in theory but in practice I have observed it happen,
for other things.
I think it likely there was a proxy or router in the middle that was
introducing bit errors into the data stream. That will confuse the git
protocol and one side or the other will close the connection. Which results
in an EOF report rather than a data corruption report.
