Automake 1.10.1 is now out, so I will be applying your patch today, along with
an update to HACKING and configure.ac to make the dependency obvious.

The FSF is much closer here, and has finally proposed a clause that I hope to
apply to autoconf soon, and assume that Ralf will apply a similar patch to
automake.
