Could it be this change by Debian?
-#GLOBAL_MAILCAP:/usr/local/lib/mosaic/mailcap
+GLOBAL_MAILCAP:/etc/mailcap
At least "fgrep gimp /etc/mailcap" shows a lot of entries for me on
Debian Unstable.
