[Lynx-dev] Lynx and offline gophermap?

Presently if you enter 'lynx index.html', lynx will render the local 
index.htmll file.
So far as I can tell, if one enters 'lynx gophermap', it displays the 
file as a normal text file, not a gophermap.

Is there a way to make lynx render local gophermap files? If not could such a 
feature be added?
