I finally include this line in my included 'doc' file, to display a footer, and 
it worked:

  @StartOddFoot { @B @Centre 11p @Font clines @Break { @B {IT Department}
@Underline address@hidden
+44 21 44 44 94 24
  } }

Absolutely: take a look at subsection 4.4 in the user guide,
"Page numbers and running headers". Lout will do pretty much all the
standard formatting things quite easily. (Remember to escape @'s!)
