   please someone could lend me a hand? i'm having trouble with these
   people trying to convince them to support systems without PATH_MAX

If the maintainer says that he doesn't want the patch then I don't see
why one should waste efforts on such tasks, no matter how flawed and
wrong arguments he has.  It would be better to have an third party
patch (yes, I know that idea sucks).
