I don't think that I can help. But maybe someone can help if you say:
-Which hardware are you using? Is it a laptop? Desktop? x86? some
specs...
-When it takes "too much time"? After you select the OS? When it loads
Grub? Before the menu? after the menu?
-How much time is "too much"? What would you expect?
-Which version of Grub are you using?
-Is the hard disk led/light on during that time? Or maybe is a Pendrive?
Or a Netbook with a Flash memory? Or loading from the network?
-In which filesystem is Grub saved?
Else it's mainly impossible to guess what happens, or why it takes long.
