The location of GRUB on hard drive ?

Hello ,

 

    I'm Ajith a linux newbie. I'll be really grateful if you can clariffy my doubt regarding GRUB.

 

 1. Since GRUB is a boot loader it should be located in Master Boot Record of the Hard disk. Where exactly on the hard disk is the location of this boot loader

 

2.  What is the programming technique used to place the boot loader code exactly at this location.

 

I hope i'll get my doubt's clarified at the earliest.
