Emacs is a Lisp machine, i.e. a virtual machine to run Lisp code.
You can run inside of it an Email reader, a Matrix client, a web
browser, a movie player, a screen recorder, a file browser, etc... so in
theory it might require access to pretty much any feature of the
machine, just like Firefox.
