I will stick to solution A for the time being.

I must say that I do not really understand why

GLPK is not "naturally" thread safe. I though

that basically you need to avoid global and 

static variables in order to get a thread-safe

function but I must have missed something.

For a GNU/Linux version see

Attached is a MS Windows dll version.

You need to replace glpk/src/env/tls.c and then rebuild the package as
usual.
