identifying DTMF?

Hi, is there anyway I can use gnokii to identify incoming DTMF tones 
from an active call, once I have issued --answercall?

I am thinking of running the handsets sound-out to my computers 
sound-in to analyse the waveform, so stop me if this is an 
overstatement.
