It is perfect in the sense that it always returns the shortest path to a 
target from any cell on the map. Perfect was meant to mathematical 
completeness, not to human appreciation.

Although A* might be better on some special case, the gradient is great 
because it is independent to the number of globule and thus the game gets 
slower only proportionally to the number of buildings. This is a good 
property for a smooth gameplay experience.

So feel free to test and explore a new algorithm, but it is currently not an 
element that needs improving in glob2 and thus do not expect much investment 
from the core team in it.

One thing that would be great would be a gradient algorithm that supports 
nydus channel, i.e. some teleportation points. *That* would affect gameplay.
