Hi everyone,
Glob2 alpha13 has been released. This new release brings:
- New GL backend
- Gzipped transfer of map through Internet
With this release, I consider Glob2 ready for Beta. One missing thing
is the
proper support for Voice Over IP for OS with no OSS support (win32 and
OS X).
It would be very nice if port maintainers of those OS could add the
microphone support (in VoiceRecorder.h/.cpp). If you are such a
maintainer
and want to add it, please say so. Otherwise, in some days and if no
critical
bug has been discovered we'll release Glob2 as Beta.
This brings me to our third point: Glob2's future. As you have probably
noticed, for now our development force is critically low: Nuage is busy
working at day and coding a commercial game at night (we are not
student
anymore and we need to eat...) and I'm under a lot of pressure with my
PhD
and have few energy left to work on Glob2 in the few free moments I
have,
especially if the work consists in debugging and administration.
Nevertheless, as seen by today's release, I've no intention to let
Glob2 die;
we have worked 5 years on it we'll not drop it now. But I'll try to go
as
fast as possible toward a 1.0 release, new contributors and a wider
community. I'm also ready to give up project leadership if someone
competant
and motivated wants it.
I'm interested to hear your comments about this.
I've updated TrackBack and put new on savannah. If someone can put
news of
alpha13 in the usual places it's nice, otherwise I'll do it when I
have some
times, but right now I'm too tired for more administration.
Have fun,
Steph
