Hi,
When gcl install its documentation, it does so with commands that append
a few lines to INFO_DIR/dir. The problem is: If the dir file does not yet
exist - this is frequent because gcl is one of the first packages to install
into $prefix/share/info rather than the traditional $prefix/info - then
the created file contains just this:
==============================================================================
* GCL Doc: (gcl-si.info). GNU Common Lisp specific Documentation.
* GCL TK Doc: (gcl-tk.info). TK window GCL interface.
* GCL Ansi Doc: (gcl.info). Ansi Common Lisp Specification.
==============================================================================
and is invalid because
. It lacks the "* Menu:" label
. It lacks the node separator and the node header that should follow.
Suggestion: Use 'install-info' to install the info files, if it is present;
otherwise if no dir file exists, don't create one.
'install-info' is part of the texinfo package since 1996.
