dvd+rw-tools (http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/) also supports DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW even though dvd+rw is in its name. I use this exclusively for all my DVD writing which is mostly DVD-R and DVD-RW. --Jay
