Follow-up Comment #18, bug #30450 (project denemo):

As suspected, the "open" thing didn't fix anything:Just tested Nils' new
0.8.18e on windows and the print preview still works every other time when the
pdf viewer field is left blank.  

If the stuff I wrote about CoInitializeEx sounds plausible perhaps we could
give that a try soon too.  Just for a quick test could just put a call to
CoUninitialize() at the end of the code for the windows part of
run_file_association in utils.c, and see if that solves anything; if so maybe
it would be better to have separate funcs that initialize/uninitialize only
once.

Sorry to not be able to try these things out on my own.  Maybe someday I'll
get around to that.
