I should have expected that there would be some reason (or several) that that is not done more widely; and I suppose that I can explicitly set "Reply-To" to the list when responding to specific users who have a long-enough history of sending responses to me that should go to the list. The point that convinced me was the possibility that someone may actually need a different receiving address than their From address and Reply-To might not be redundant, causing its rewriting to leave no way at all of contacting a message's author off-list. Consider the request withdrawn.
