    filter: fixed frequency translating filter.
    
    Thanks to Achilleas Anastasopoulos for pointing it out and providing the 
basic patch. Updated QA code here, too, for the changes. Now QA calculates the 
results from basic principles instead of using a 'gold' set of results.
