Hum ...  I will not make that leap of faith.

However, you are right, we should make distinctions.  This is what Paul, I 
believe,
is trying to tell me:

(1) "Makefile" writing support
I think, I could go much further in the "Makefile" management, by doing things
discuss in earlier thread, for example:

- Syntax Higlight
- Outliner
- Content Assist
- Hovering
- (Simple)syntax validation
...

Still looking for easy ways to improve the users experience when dealing with 
makefiles.

(2) Makefile infrastructure support
The IDE taking over of the makefile(i.e. maintaining the Makefiles), we are 
also exploring that route
They are some drawbacks and serious advantages.

Also, in the light, of Paul's comment about "generated makefiles" we are taking 
a harder look
at the work we've done so far.

(3) improvement in the feedback from the "make" program.
This is a little harder, since every request must have a clear rationale and
benefit the entire make community and not "just to make some IDE" look better.
But so far, I did not see any make application, trying to make integration
with other tools better and would like to see improvements.
