Ron Hale-Evans, a former FSF documentation writer, wrote a short
document titled "A Style Guide for GNU Documentation" for himself as a
way to clarify all the verbal instructions he was receiving from
Richard Stallman and Bob Chassell (a former senior editor at the FSF).
He just sent me the manuscript (I did not know about it's existence
before yesterday) and I have added it to the Doc-team URL
(http://www.gnu.org/doc/doc-team.html) for downloading. It is
available as both a PDF and a native Texinfo file.
Please note that one burning question is decidedly answered: Richard
wants writers to use the second-person pronoun "you" when speaking to
the reader. Since this has been the (unwritten) official policy since
our founding, I will not at this time reverse this style choice.
