You may want to check that the user "gnats" owns the database directories
and that you have set the proper read permissions for the user on these
directories. I assume it is the user 'gnats' which runs the cron job?

You should also try running the command directly from the command line
while logged in as the user 'gnats'.

i've checked that the user "gnats" owns the database directories
/usr/local/share/gnats/gnats-db with the "rwx" permissions for the user ...
is OK
When I try to run (as gnats) the command "queue-pr --run" directly from the
command line, the "queue-pr" runs but i recieve the same error message
"gnats couldn't read the queue file"
