Question, maybe a suggestion

Hi folks,

I've used global to help me to understand a c system developed a few 
years ago without any software development technic.
The developers didn't have nothing to help me to understand the sources 
and the things they did to put the system up to work. No news here :-)
So, I got global.

I'm trying to introduce some development technics that I think can 
increase the system quality and one of them I would like
to ask if someone have tryed to do using global/gtags/ctgas. I am 
looking for a feedback or even to suggest a new feature.
Here is my goal :
Increase the global/ctags/gtags parser engine to work as a test logger 
tool too.

I know the Rational has a test tool that can log each function or method 
my testcases covers. I think it's great but everyone
knows how expensive is this kind of tool. So, I saw that I could use the 
parser engine of the global/ctags/gtags to introduce
some traces into my base source to log followed functions during the 
testcases execution.
So, I could get the functions my tests are covering, I could know how 
functions were not covered and I could know
how testcases should I execute after I've changed a function, a global 
struct and so.

Did have someone tryed to do this using global ? Is there an open source 
tool for this ?

The idea I get is more powerfull as I've described above. Actually, it 
will involve CVS/MYSQL or db3-3 and another things.
