Hello,
I run Linux Red Hat 6.2 and 7.2, and it would be nice to have
some kind of safety net for the rm binary in the event someone accidentally
types in a command such as " rm -rf dirname /* " note the white space between
dirname and /* which really means rm -rf /* - a disaster waiting to happen. This
happened to me several times when I wanted to type rm -rf dirname/*, but
accidentally put the space there and kaboom!!!
It would be great to have a prompt asking if you want to
remove your entire partition prior to ever executing rm -rf /* no matter how it
was entered on the command line. Do you know of a modified version of rm that
does that, and if not, what would it take to modify the existing one? I know you
are suppose to know what you are doing if you log in as root, but we are all
human and make dumb mistakes. Thanks for your time.
Best regards,
Leon Bensonoff
